This was hands-down the best Dalek episode we have had in recent Doctor Who (by recent I mean 2003-onwards)

For me it demonstrated how utterly terrifying the Daleks can be. With no other orders, it just kills. Because it can. Because it could. And for no other reason except that it was what it was created to do. You can’t ration or reason with it. The following Daleks episode just have matched up.

And Christopher Eccleston was great in this scene. That one line ” Don’t you see it’s all gone. Everything you were. Everything you stood for” is so sad because he’s not really saying it to the Dalek. He used to be a hero, someone who preferred science and words over violence. Now he wiped out two races in a single act of genocide. How can he call himself the Doctor any more? How can he live with himself after that?

You can see in the last Gif, how horrified he look at the Dalek’s words. Because it’s true. This creature that forced him to destroy his race, his home, everything he knows. He was so blinded by his hate, he didn’t realize that he was acting exactly like a Dalek would.

So hands down my favourite Dalek episode. What’s yours?

Same!

You can vote for it on the BBC’s website!
